UC Davis 5, Hawai'i 3
UC Davis pitcher Kenedi Brown stymied the UH offense taking a no-hitter into the sixth. She was lifted in the middle of UH's rally in the sixth inning, but returned to actually earn the complete game win recording all 21 outs. She allowed three runs on four hits with four walks and 11 strikeouts. Mia Hildebrand gave up two hits in a brief appearance in the sixth before Brown was re-entered.
The Aggies opened the game by posting three runs in the first inning. UCD first scored on a double steal with runners on the corners. Later with two runners on, Leah Polson hit a double to centerfield to drive in both Reese Mattley and Libbie McMahan.
In the third, UCD's Mattley hit a sac fly to score McMahan to increase their lead to 4-0. Later in the fifth, Mattley struck again driving in Sommer Kisling with an RBI-single which extended the Aggies' lead to 5-0.
In the sixth, the Hawai'i bats woke up as they broke up Brown's bid for a no-hitter while rallying to score three runs. After
Brittnee Rossi drew a leadoff walk, Hawai'I's
Ka'ena Keliinoi rapped a one-out single through the leftside of the infield to put runners at first and second.
Maya Nakamura then took a 3-1 pitch over the left-centerfield fence. UCD lifter Brown for Hildebrand, but UH kept things going as
Izabella Martinez and
Dallas Millwood followed with a single and a double. The Aggies then re-entered Brown in the pitching circle and she settled down to get the final two outs to end the rally and the inning.
Hawai'i starter
Ashley Murphy threw a complete game in the loss. She allowed five runs on seven hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
UC Davis 4, Hawai'i 2
In the series finale, Hawai'i took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning. UH loaded the bases with three singles—including back-to-back bunts back to the pitcher. Nakamura scored on a wild pitch, but that would be all the offense UH could generate.
The Aggies responded by loading the bases with no outs on a walk, hit batter, and catcher's interference. UCD's Claudia Kim and Anna Dethlefson both hit RBI-singles as UC Davis leap-frogged the 'Bows into a 2-1 lead.
UC Davis extended its lead to 3-2 on an RBI-single by McMahan that drove in Nakahara from second.
UH's Rossi led off the fifth with her second triple of the series. She lined the ball off the base of the rightfield wall. Kaupe followed with an RBI single up the middle to score Rossi as UH trailed by one run, 3-2.
The Aggies however then added an insurance run in the sixth on an RBI-groundout by McMahan that drove in Dethlefson from third for a 4-2 lead.
Hawai'i's
Brianna Lopez suffered the loss, dropping her record to 14-8 overall. She allowed four runs on 10 hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
UC Davis' Taylor Fitzgerald earned the win throwing the first five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts. Brown earned the save giving up just one hit in the final two innings.
