The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team has a finalist for five of the 11 NCAA Division I-II national awards presented by Off the Block.
A nationwide voting committee of about 20 college coaches and volleyball media determined the finalists and the winners. The top-three vote-getters were named finalists, while the individual receiving the most votes will be named the award winner. The winners will be announced Friday, May 6.
Setter
Jakob Thelle is a finalist for three awards while middle blocker
Guilherme Voss is a finalist for two. Last year, UH grabbed five awards with opposite
Rado Parapunov and libero
Gage Worsley each winning two.
For the second consecutive year, Thelle is one of three finalists for the Lloy Ball Award, presented to the nation's best setter. The Tonsberg, Norway native is also a finalist for the Nicolas Szerszen Award, which honors the nation's best non-U.S. born player, and the National Server of the Year Award. The junior is among the nation's leaders in both aces and assists per set while directing the nation's 5
th-best offense.
Voss is a first-time finalist for both the Ryan Millar Award, which is presented to the nation's best middle attacker, and the National Blocker of the Year Award. The Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native ranks No. 2 nationally in blocking (1.36) while his .487 hitting percentage would rank No. 4 nationally if he qualified.
Parapunov won the Szerszen Award for the past three years. The last UH setter to win the Ball Award was Joe Worsley in 2019.
Patrick Gasman is the reining Millar Award recipient and won the National Blocker of the Year award in 2019. No Hawai'i player has ever won the National Server of the Year award.

LLOY BALL AWARD
The Lloy Ball Award is given to the nation's best setter in NCAA Division I-II men's volleyball during the regular season. The annual award is named after the former U.S. Olympic gold medalist and IPFW All-American setter Lloy Ball.

RYAN MILLAR AWARD
The Ryan Millar Award is given to the nation's best middle attacker in NCAA Division I-II men's volleyball during the regular season. The annual award is named after former BYU All-American and U.S. Olympian Ryan Millar.

NICOLAS SZERSZEN AWARD
The Nicolas Szerszen Award is presented to the best non-U.S. born player in NCAA Division I-II men's volleyball during the regular season. The annual award is named after the former Ohio State All-American outside attacker.

NATIONAL BLOCKER OF THE YEAR
The National Blocker of the Year is annually awarded to the NCAA Division I-II men's volleyball player with the best front-row defensive performance during the regular season.
