2022 AVCA Beach All-America

Women's Beach Volleyball

BeachBow Pair Named To All-America First Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its 2022 Beach Volleyball All-America Team on Thursday with the Rainbow Wahine top pair of Kaylee Glagau and Brooke Van Sickle garnering first-team honors.

It's the first such honor for Glagau (So., Mississauga, Canada) and Van Sickle (Sr., Battle Ground, Wash.), who became the 11th and 12th All-Americans, respectively, in program history. Meanwhile, Van Sickle becomes just the second Rainbow Wahine to earn All-American honors in both indoor and beach within the same school year. Emily Maglio also accomplished the feat in 2017-18.

Glagau and Van Sickle have played together at the top of the order in 35 of UH's 36 matches this season. The duo owns a team-best 27-8 overall record so far this year and boasts a dozen wins over ranked squads, including top-5 teams UCLA, TCU, LSU and Loyola Marymount. They have ended the regular-season strong with wins in nine of their last 10 matches.

The duo was named Big West Pair of the Week a record four times this season and in late March were named the AVCA/CBVB Pair of the Week, becoming just the third UH pair ever to earn the national recognition Glagau and Van Sickle were named first-team all-Big West last season and are expected to gain recognition again this year when the 2022 Big West all-conference honors are announced next week following the conclusion of this weekend's Big West Tournament.

Glagau and Van Sickle join just seven other pairs across the country on the AVCA All-America first team. Eight other pairs earned second-team honors. UH has had at least one All-America citation in eight of the 10 years of the program's existence.

The BeachBows are currently in San Luis Obispo, Calif., preparing as the top seed for the 2022 Big West Tournament. Following this weekend's action, the 'Bows hope to extend their season with a bid to the NCAA Tournament, May 4-8, in Gulf Shores, Ala.
