SEATTLE -- The No. 8 University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine beach volleyball team heads to the Pacific Northwest for the Husky Invitational, April 16-17, hosted by the University of Washington at Alki Beach. Joining UH and UW in the two-day tournament are Oregon and Portland.

This is the second straight appearance in the Husky Invitational for the Rainbow Wahine (18-13) who also captured the tourney last year against the identical field. The 'Bows are a solid 11-5 on the mainland this season.Â

A Dominant Pair: Kaylee Glagau and
Brooke Van Sickle have played at the top of the order in 30 of UH's 31 matches...they own a team-best 23-7 overall record so far this year...the duo has won Big West Pair of the Week honors a school-record four times this year, including in each of the last three weeks after going a combined 15-2...they were also named the AVCA/CBVB Pair of the Week, just the third UH pair ever to earn the national recognition...the duo has won 16 of their last 18 matches with their only losses coming at the hands of No. 1 UCLA and No. 3 USC.
One Win Away: Anna Maidment and
Sofia Russo are 19-10 this year while playing at every single flight with the exception of No. 1....they were named the Most Outstanding Pair of the Outrigger Queen's Cup and Big West Pair of the Week after going a perfect 6-0, including wins over nationally ranked TCU and Cal in mid-March…with their 21-14, 21-16 win over Grand Canyon's Tegan DeFalco and Samaya Morin Won 21-14, 21-16 this past weekend, the pair won their 35th career match together, tying the school's all-time mark of dual wins by a pair, a record shared by
Emily Maglio-Kai'iwi Schucht and
Ari Homayun-
Amy Ozee.

All-Time Series Records: UH is 2-0 all-time against Portland and 1-0 against Oregon, with all of those meetings coming last year in the Husky Invitational….the 'Bows are 7-0 all-time against Washington with three of the wins coming in Seattle last season.

Versus Unranked Squads: UH is 110-2 (.982) all-time vs unranked squads, including 11-1 this year…the BeachBows saw a string of 105 straight wins against unranked opponents halted with a 3-2 loss to UC Davis on March 25 in the Big West Challenge...UH's only other loss against an unranked opponent came to Loyola Marymount, 3-2, on March 23, 2013, on the campus of Grand Canyon in Phoenix, Ariz.
