HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (10-7, 5-2 Big West) wrapped up its home schedule with a 7-0 win over Cal Lutheran on Wednesday afternoon. The win marked Hawai'i's seventh-straight home sweep over their opponents. The Rainbow Wahine have now hit the 10-win milestone in seven out of the last nine seasons. Wednesday's win was on the Rainbow Wahine's Senior Day, as Gitte Heynemans, Nidhi Surapaneni and Tal Talya Zandberg were all honored after the match at the UH Tennis Complex.
 
UH won the doubles point to start the match. Hawai'i's No. 1 duo of Satsuki Takamura and Léa Romain blanked Cal Lutheran's Mari Bufkin and Brennan Foreman, 6-0. UH's No. 3 pairing of Nidhi Surapaneni and Madison Kim combined their forces to defeat the Regals' Heidi Levanen and Joslin Seaberg, 6-3 to secure the point. Tal Talya Zandberg and Gitte Heynemans won by a break over CLU's Luisa Garcia and Carolinea Groff Hinojosa, 6-4 on the No. 2 court.
 
The Rainbow Wahine won all six singles matches in straight sets and did not allow any of the Regals to win more that three games in a set. UH's No. 4 Heynemans led things off by nearly shutting out Garcia, 6-1, 6-0. On the No. 2 court, Takamura defeated CLU's Foreman by the identical score of 6-1, 6-0 and Surapaneni then clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Lauren Sebastian at No. 6. Hawai'i's No. 5 Kim followed with a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Groff Hinojosa, while Zandberg knocked off Sophia Gawrit, 6-0, 6-1. UH's No. 1 Romain then closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Bufkin.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will now have 11 days before taking on CSUN on Sunday, April 24 at 11:00 a.m. in Northridge, Calif.. From there, the 'Bows will stay on the road to compete at the Big West Championships in San Diego, Calif. starting on Thursday, April 28, 2022.
