SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team carded a first round 395 at the 75
th Western Intercollegiate presented by Topgolf and Titleist Monday at the famed Pasatiempo Golf Club.
The first round was suspended due to darkness with the Rainbow Warriors currently in 14
th place. Three groups were still on the course with one hole to play. UH's groups are scheduled to begin at 12:06 p.m. PT.
Eighth-ranked Pepperdine leads the team standings at 18-over par with all six golfers still on the course. Ninth-ranked Texas holds the clubhouse lead at 21-over 371 followed by sixth-ranked Washington (373), California (374), and host San José State (376).
Individually, four golfers are tied for the lead at even par 70, including San Jose State's Nick Watts, Texas' Pierceson Coody, and Colorado State's Rasmus Hjelm who are in the clubhouse. Pepperdine's Dylan Menante is also at even par with one hole to play.
UH freshman
Tyler Ogawa briefly shared the tournament lead at even par after a birdie at the par-5, No. 13 hole. But the Honolulu native posted bogeys on Nos. 14 and 16 and a double on No. 17 to finish at 4-over 74 and a tie for 19
th place.
Freshman
Atsuya Oishi rebounded from a front nine 41 with a 37 on his back nine for an 8-over 78 and tie for 52
nd. Junior
AJ Teraoka made the turn at 38 but shot 6-over on the back for a 79 and is tied for 60
th place.
