HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i swim and dive team was awarded one end-of-the-year award by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation office on Friday as
Kathryn Ivanov was named Freshman of the Year.
Ivanov is the third Rainbow Wahine swimmer in program history to claim the Freshman of the Year title, as Ivy Houser recently captured the award in 2018, while Kira Webster was the first in 2015.
The MPSF Championships showcased Ivanov's potential as her career will continue to grow. She was the only freshman swimmer on the women's side to claim an MPSF Championship as she won the 100 breast event with a time of 1:01.74. Ivanov also contributed to the winning 200 medley relay team, touching the wall at 1:39.14. She also played a role in the 400 medley relay team, placing second.
