Women's Tennis Hosts Army West Point

HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (3-3. 3-0 Big West) continues its seven match homestand this week as they host Army West Point on Thursday, March 10. First serve is slated for 2:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.

The Rainbow Wahine are coming off back-to-back dual match Big West wins over Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State. Gitte Henemans led the 'Bows in its 5-2 win over Long Beach State last week. She was the lone Rainbow Wahine to notch wins in both singles and doubles. She and partner Nidhi Surapaneni defeated LBSU's Claire Le Du and Andreea Ciornei, 6-4 on the No. 3 doubles court, while in singles she came back after dropping the first set to grind out a gutsy three-set win over Peppi Ramstedt, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (3). Overall, Heynemans leads Hawai'i with a 5-3 overall record. She is 3-0 in conference play. Three other Rainbow Wahine are right behind Heynemans with four wins apiece - Léa Romian, Ana Vilcek, and Tal Talya Zandberg.

Army just had its eight-match win streak snapped in Honolulu by Long Beach State on Monday. The Black Knights have three players who have already racked up nine wins each. Both Justine Dondonay and Coooper Jackson have 9-1 records while Paige Herremans is 9-2 overall.
