HONOLULU--The 73rd-ranked University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (6-3, 3-0 Big West) concludes their month-long homestand with a pair of Big West matches this week. The Rainbow Wahine will take on UC Davis (9-6, 4-3 BWC) on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. followed by UC Riverside (2-9, 0-4 BWC) on Saturday, March 26th. 

The Rainbow Wahine debuted in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) national rankings on Wednesday at No. 73. It is the first time that UH has appeared in the poll since they were ranked No. 65 on May 23, 2018. 

Hawai'i enters the week riding a five-match win streak--which includes four sweeps over their opponents (Cal State Fullerton, 7-0; Army, 4-0; and Bucknell twice (7-0, 7-0). Senior transfer Gitte Heynemans currently leads UH with an 8-3 overall record and a 7-1 dual match mark. She has won her last seven-consecutive singles matches with five singles wins on the No. 5 and two at No. 6. Heynemans and doubles partner Nidhi Surapaneni have a 5-0 record together primarily on the No. 3 court. 

Fellow senior transfer Tal Talya Zandberg comes into this week with the second best overall singles record of 7-4. Just like Heynemans, both fell in their opening dual match at San Diego, but since then both have won the last seven singles matches. Zandberg has won her last 12-consecutive sets and has not allowed her opponent to score more than one game in a set since closing our Long Beach State's Claire Le Du in the second set at 6-2 which is six sets and three wins ago. 

Three other Rainbow Wahine currently have six wins apiece--Madison Kim (6-2), Lea Romain (6-5), and Ana Vilcek (6-4).
