LONG BEACH, Calif. – Following an idle weekend, the No. 9 University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine beach volleyball team returns to competition with the Big West Challenge, March 25-26 at Rosie's Dog Beach in Long Beach.
 
The Rainbow Wahine (10-5) will take on six Big West foes over the span of two days in a prelude to the Big West Tournament later in April. Included are a pair of big matches against conference rivals and nationally ranked squads Cal Poly (#12) and host Long Beach State (#15). The 'Bows have won eight of their last 10 matches
 
Following the Big West Challenge, UH will continue competition in Southern California with a pair of matches versus nationally ranked UCLA and TCU on the campus of UCLA on March 31, followed by the UCLA Invitational in Manhattan Beach, April 2-3.

UH Pair To Watch:  Anna Maidment and Sofia Russo have are a team-best 12-1 on the season and are on an 11-match win streak…the pair went a perfect 6-0 in the OUTRIGGER Queen's Cup and played at the No. 3, 4 and 5 flights after starting the season and playing all of last year exclusively at the No. 5 flight…the duo is a combined 28-6 dating back to last season…their 28 wins together is tied for ninth all-time among UH pairs.
 
'Bow Bits: Former UH great and the school's all-time leader in wins Ari Homayun, is now an assistant with CSUN after spending a season at Cal Poly…Rosie's Dog Beach was the site of last year's Big West Tournament in which UH finished runner-up to Cal Poly…the Mustangs will be hosting this year's tournament on campus in San Luis Obispo.

All-Time Series Records: UH is 6-0 against UC Davis, including a pair of wins just this month in the Outrigger Queen's Cup...the 'Bows are 7-0 against both CSUN and CSU Bakersfield…the 'Bows are 3-0 agasint Sacramento State...the teams haven't faced each other since 2019...UH is 18-8 all-time against LBSU, including a 1-3 mark in Long Beach…the 'Bows defeated the Beach, 4-1, at Rosie' Dog Beach in last year's Big West Tournament…UH is 10-8 all-time against Cal Poly…the teams played each other seven times in 2021, with the Mustangs holding a 5-2 edge.
 
Versus Unranked Squads: UH is 106-1 (.991) all-time  vs unranked squads, including 7-0 this year…the BeachBows have won 105 straight matches against unranked opponents dating back to 2013 when AVCA rankings began…the team's only loss against an unranked opponent came to Loyola Marymount, 3-2, on March 23, 2013, at the USAV Beach Collegiate Challenge at Hermosa Beach, Calif.
 
Versus Ranked Squads: UH is 81-63 (.563) all-time versus ranked squads, including 3-5 this year….UH is 37-31 (.544) all-time versus ranked squads at neutral sites and 8-9 (.471) against ranked squads on the road, including 1-0 this year.
