HONOLULU – The No. 3 University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team handed the nation's lone remaining unbeaten team its first loss with a 3-0 win over No. 15 Lincoln Memorial Friday in the opener of a three-match series at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. Set scores were 25-21, 25-21, 25-21.
The Rainbow Warriors (11-2) extended their win streak to seven straight while the Railsplitters (8-1) went down for the first time in nine matches. UH improved to 5-0 all-time against LMU, winning all five matches in straight sets.

Dimitrios Mouchlias led the Warriors with 10 kills, hitting .450 with two aces. Outside hitter
Spyros Chakas added nine kills and two aces while middle blockers
Guilherme Voss (8 kills, 2 blocks) and
Cole Hogland (6 kills, 3 blocks) combined for 14 kills and five blocks.
Cole Campisano had a match-high 12 kills, hitting .500 for LMU while Johansen Negron and Justin Sharfenaker each tallied 11 kills. As a team, LMU committed 17 service errors and 16 attack errors compared to only 21 combined errors for UH.
In Set 1, the Warriors found themselves in a 7-5 hole after the Splitters scored four straight capped by a pair of Sharfenaker aces. But UH awoke with a 6-0 scoring run with Kāna'i Akana at the service line for a 12-8 lead. UH extended its lead to 21-15 after back-to-back kills by Mouchlias and Chakas. Hawai'i, which hit .435, took the set on LMU's eighth service error.
LMU grabbed a 5-2 lead to begin Set 2. UH finally tied the score at 16 after an LMU attack error however consecutive kills by Sharfenaker gave the Splitters an 18-16 lead. The Warrior block came alive with back-to-back solo stuffs by Akana and Voss for a 19-18 lead. After the teams traded side-outs, Hawai'i then scored three straight with the help of a pair of LMU attack errors. UH closed out the set with an ace by Akana.
UH used a 6-0 run, including two aces by Chakas, to take a 7-3 lead in Set 3. The Warriors still managed to keep the lead despite their sixth attack error, which cut the advantage to one at 11-10. The Splitters tied it at 13 but kills by Chakas and Voss put UH ahead by two at the media timeout. Mouchlias' second ace of the match made it 18-15 and his 10
th kill gave UH aloha ball. Voss ended the match with his eight kill.
The teams will play again on Saturday. First serve is 7:00 p.m. at SimpliFi Arena.
