HONOLULU—For the fourth time this season graduate forward
Amy Atwell from the University of Hawai'i women's basketball team has been named the Big West Conference Player of the Week.
Atwell is the first Rainbow Wahine in the program's nearly 50 year history to receive the honor four times in one seasons split between the Big West and Western Athletic Conference.
The 'Bows are coming off their first conference road sweep of the season after taking down Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State, moving them to the top of the conference standings. Atwell combined for 43 points in the two games, but most notably, 35 of the 43 points came in the second half when UH strung together two comeback victories.
In the second half surge against the Beach, Atwell scored 20 points, finishing with 25 and 12 rebounds for her team leading fourth double-double of the season.
The 'Bows will be in action on Thursday when they host UC San Diego, tip-off is set for 7 p.m. HT.
