DALLAS – The Hawai'i swimming & diving team closed out competition at the SMU Invitational Saturday with yet another strong performance, highlighted by another freestyle relay school record set by the Rainbow Wahine in the 400 Free Relay.
For the second time in the meet, the freestyle relay squad of
Holly Nelson,
Laticia Transom,
Anna Friedrich and Gabby Scudamore broke a program record, this time in the 400 Free Relay. The group swam a 3:16.45, with splits of 49.90 by Nelson, 47.31 by Transom, 49.69 for Friedrich and 49.55 by Scudamore. The Rainbow Wahine lowered the school record of 3:18.33 by nearly two full seconds.
The Rainbow Warriors also came into the 400 Free Relay with their sights set on the school record, but came up just 0.29 seconds shy of the mark.

Jordan Meacham,
Ian Venter and Tim Gallagher put together a relay time of 2:54.41 to finish second in the meet.
The Hawai'i diving squad had a big day on the platform, putting up a trio of NCAA Zone E marks while having an individual win both events.
Elma Lund turned in a Zone E mark with a 258.35 to take the win in the women's platform competition, while
Mackaby Pennington won the men's platform with an NCAA Zone E mark of 338.05.
Juan Gonzalez also put up a Zone E mark of 321.10.
In the pool, the UH swimmers continued to put up more top-10 times.
Laticia Transom added to her incredible start as a Rainbow Wahine, lowering her time in the 100 Free to 48.28, good for the third-fastest time in school history.
Holly Nelson turned in another top-10 time in the 100 Free final, swimming a 49.85 to put her in ninth all-time at UH.
Mandolin Nguyen, who already cracked the UH top 10 in the 200 Breaststroke earlier this year, improved upon her time with a 2:14.22 to move into fifth in program history.
On the men's side,
Mario Surkovic kept his strong weekend going by putting up the No. 5 time in 100 Freestyle history at UH in the prelims with a 43.81. He came just .01 seconds away from matching the time in the final to finish in fourth place.
Milan Bukovics recorded a top-10 time for the second straight day, swimming a 1:46.54 in the 200 Fly finals to put him in ninth all-time at UH.
