TULSA, Okla.—Two members of the University of Hawai'i men's tennis team—
Axel Labrunie and
Guillaume Tattevin—competed in the 2022 ITA Men's All-American Championships Pre-Qualifying Round(s) on Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center (University of Tulsa).
Labrunie opened with a win over Oral Roberts' Gustavo Pinho in three sets to advance to the Round of 128. Labrunie battled back after dropping the first set to knock off Pinho, 2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2. In the Round of 126, Labrunie fought hard but fell to UC Santa Barbara's Pablo Masjuan, in straight sets, 7-6 (4), 6-4.
Tattevin also fought valiantly, but lost to Temple's Leo Raquin in a third set tie-breaker. Tattevin won the opening set by a break, but dropped the final two frames, 5-7, 6-1, 7-6(2). Tattevin will take on Nick Watson in a consolation match on Sunday. cv
