HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team hosts cross-town rival, Hawai'i Pacific, in an exhibition match this Saturday, Jan. 22. The two teams will square off against each other at 9:30 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
Leading the Hawai'i into the exhibition match is current Big West Player of the Week, Simão Telo Alves. Alves was the only Rainbow Warrior to win all three of his singles matches in UH's season opening Hawai'i Invitational tournament. Alves and doubles partner
Karl Collins also notched the 'Bows only doubles victory for the weekend. Alves is the first BWC Player of the Week awardee for 2022. The last time a UH men's tennis player earned the weekly honor, was last year when
Andre Ilagan earned his fourth career on April 7, 2021. Alves is the 10th Rainbow Warrior to earn the BWC weekly honor, which brings the program total to 17 in 10 seasons.
