COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team holds the first round lead at the Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Invitational Sunday at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course.
The Rainbow Wahine carded a 290 and is three strokes ahead of host Gonzaga and Oral Roberts (293). Individually, freshman
Hyeonji Kang is in a three-way tie for first at 1-under 70. Making her UH debut, the South Korea native posted four birdies on her round and is tied with Seattle's Rivekka Jumagulova and Florida International's Millburn Ho.
Junior Hāna Mirnik is two strokes back in a tie for sixth at 1-over 72 while freshman
Momo Sugiyama is tied for 12th at 2-over 73. Rounding out the UH contingent are
Focus Jonglikit (75) and
Ting-Yu Liu (78).
The tournament continues with the second round on Monday.
The Rainbow Wahine are coming off a season-opening win at the HPU Sharks Shootout. UH currently leads the 17-team field which also includes fellow Big West Conference foes Long Beach State (303) and UC Irvine (307).
