HONOLULU  - The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team is poised to complete its 2021 regular season with a conference match against UC Riverside on Sunday, April 25 at 8:00 a.m. HT at the SRC Tennis Courts.
 
The match at UCR will close UH's 13-match regular-season, which opened on February 18 against USC and served as the team's first match in the nine months since their COVID-shortened 2020 season. After the UCR match, the Rainbow Wahine (5-7, 3-4 BWC) will gear up for the Big West Championships later in the week, which will be held on the campus of UC Irvine, Thursday, April 29 to Saturday, May 1.
 
Hawai'i looks to break a four-match losing streak. The 'Bows have faced tough competition while in California against Big West opponents UC Davis and Cal State Fullerton while also attempting to derail nationally-ranked Stanford. In their most recent match at Cal State Fullerton, Nikola Dolakova and Satsuki Takamura captured the Bows' sole win on the No. 1 court in doubles play. The rest of the Rainbow Wahine managed to push the majority of the singles match-ups to three sets before eventually succumbing to the Titans.
  
Dolakova and Takamura lead the Rainbow Wahine in doubles holding a 6-6 overall record primarily playing on the No. 1 court throughout 2021. In singles, Dolakova has been instrumental for UH by accumulating a 6-3 mark over the season hopping between the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 courts. Takamura holds a 5-7 singles record on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. Freshman Léa Romain has notably come into her own this season with a 3-2 singles record alongside veteran Petra Melounova, who has accrued a 3-3 record, respectively.
 
On the other side of the court, UC Riverside (0-7, BWC 0-6) hopes to capture a win and snap a six-match losing streak to UH, dating back to 2013. The Highlanders were swept after their most recent match against UC Davis and will challenge Cal Poly this coming Saturday before facing Hawai'i on Sunday. The teams last met in 2018 with Hawai'i winning 5-1.
