YORBA LINDA, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team dropped two spots into seventh place after Tuesday's second round of the Big West Championships at the Yorba Linda Country Club.
As a team, the Rainbow Wahine carded a 306 for a 605 total. UC Irvine (577) holds a one shot lead over Cal Poly (578) heading into Wednesday's final round. UC Davis (581) is four shots back after carding the best score of the day at 286.
One day after opening with a 71, freshman
Monica Johnson shot a second round 76 and dropped into a tie for 12
thplace at 3-over 147. One shot behind her is
Hana Mirnik, who posted a 2-over 74 and is tied for 16
th at 148.
UH's three other participants –
Zoey Akagi-Bustin,
Ali Schmunk, and
Kralyn Salazar – carded the same score (78) for the second straight day and are tied for 31
st at 155.
UC Irvine's Megan Yang continues to hold the individual lead at 6-under 138 after a second round 73. Cal Poly's Caroline Cantlay is four strokes back at 142.
The tournament concludes on Wednesday. UH is grouped with CSUN and Cal State Bakersfield and will tee off from the 10
th tee beginning at 7:30 a.m. PT
