SEATTLE – The No. 15 University of Hawaii beach volleyball team went a perfect 3-0 in pool play to start off the Husky Invitational Friday Alki Beach. The Rainbow Wahine (11-7) bounced Oregon and Portland by identical 5-0 scores and upended host Washington, 4-1, to close out the day.
 
UH has now won four straight matches in a row all but one of them in shutout fashion. The four-match win streak ties a season-best.
 
Beautiful weather greeted the BeachBows in their first-ever visit to Seattle and scenic Alki Beach. It was also the first time that UH played Northwest school Oregon and Portland and the 'Bows made quick work of the two schools with straight sets wins through all five flights.  
 
UH had a tougher test with Washington. The 'Bows won courts 1, 2, and 4 in straight sets to clinch the win, but were extended to three sets on the courts 3 and 5. Anna Maidment and Sofia Russo  defeated Callie Weber and Cassidy Schilling 21-16, 20-22, 15-7 at the No. 5 flight but Harlee Kekauoha and Lea Kruse fell to Scarlett Dahl and Kyra Petersen 21-13, 21-7, 16-14. It was the only point dropped by UH in an otherwise perfect day.
 
UH enters bracket play as the No. 1 seed and will face Portland at 7 a.m. HT for a spot in the tournament finals. Host Washington and Oregon will square off right after. The third-place match is slated for 10 a.m. HT and the championship is at 11:15 a.m. HT.
