BeachBows Road Trip Marches On With Big West Competition

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The No. 10 University of Hawai'i beach volleyball team continues its season-opening road trip this weekend with The Challenge, a round-robin tournament featuring six Big West schools. The event takes place Friday, March 26 and Saturday, March 27 on the campus of Cal Poly.

The Rainbow Wahine (2-2) will take on five squads over two days in San Luis Obispo. The tournament will feature a pair of big matches against conference rivals and nationally ranked squads Long Beach State and host Cal Poly. UH has won seven straight and 11 of its last 12 meetings versus the Beach, who are currently ranked 19th.  UH meanwhile looks to knock off the No. 5 Mustangs, who have defeated UH in three of the last four outings. The BeachBows will also face CSUN, CSU Bakersfield, and UC Davis in the two-day tournament.

UH started the season earlier this week in Northern California with a 2-2 showing. The Rainbow Waine fell to No. 19 Stanford and No. 11 California, while earning a pair of sweeps over host UC Davis.

Following The Challenge, the Rainbow Wahine return home to host Long Beach State for a trio of dual matches on April 1 and April 3 (DH) at the T.C. Ching Beach Volleyball Courts.
