FLAGSTAFF, ARIZ.— The final day of the Zone E Championships at the Northern Arizona University Aquatic and Tennis Complex proved to be a productive one for the University of Hawai'i as two divers qualified for the NCAA Championships.
Freshman
Elma Lund placed ninth overall in the platform event with a final score of 466.70, edging her way into the NCAA Championships, slated to start next week in Greensboro, North Carolina. It'll mark Lund's first career appearance at the national championships.
Lund's qualification is the fourth for UH as junior
Max Burman, sophomore Daphe Wils, and freshman
Zach Lundgren will be competing on the national stage in one or more events. Burman will join Wils, who will compete in multiple events.
On Wednesday, Burman finished with a final score of 647.75 in the 1-meter, putting him at fourth place overall. As a result, Burman will compete in both the 1-meter and 3-meter championships beginning on Wednesday, March 24th.
Joining Burman in the top-10 of the 1-meter was freshman
Mason Williams with a score of 609.60. While Williams' efforts didn't push him past trying to qualify for the NCAAs, his efforts jumped him from tenth in the prelims to seventh overall in the championship round.
