HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i Athletics and 'Ahahui Koa Ānuenue are inviting fans to pledge per block in the "Bucks for Blocks" fundraising initiative for the 2021 men's volleyball season. Although currently it is not possible to attend matches, this program provides an alternate way to cheer on the Rainbow Warriors while also supporting UH Athletics.

Last year's men's volleyball program totaled 142.5 blocks in 16 matches. In 2019, the team recorded 267.5 blocks in 31 matches.

At this time, the 2021 schedule includes 14 matches, however, it is expected that more regular season matches will be added to the schedule.

Here's how it works:

1. Select an amount to pledge per block tallied throughout the 2021 season.                                  
2. Watch the Rainbow Warriors and cheer them to victory knowing you are positively supporting all 21 sports and more than 500 student-athletes.                                              
3. Final pledge commitment will be automatically processed within three (3) business days of the conclusion of the seasons to the provided credit card.

Updates on block counts will be provided via social media. 
Pledges are 100% tax deductible gifts to H-Club and not eligible to earn member benefits.  A receipt noting your final contribution amount will be provided for your files.

'Bows Together is the Athletics Department theme for the year, which includes fundraising activities and a focus on service and social justice awareness in the community. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hawai'i Athletics faces budgetary challenges related to student-athlete education (scholarships, cost of attendance, 5th years scholarship), competitive athletic experience (nutrition, apparel, equipment, travel), and maintaining a safe environment (expenses due to COVID-19 protocols).

• Yes, all 2021 men's volleyball matches will be recognized, including home, away, and potential post-season matches. The total number of blocks tallied during these matches will be used to calculate final pledges.

• Pledge commitments will automatically be processed in full to the provided payment method within three (3) business days of the conclusion of the seasons.

Q:  Can I participate if the season is already underway?  

• Yes, you may make a pledge at any time during the 2021 season.  Your total pledge will be calculated using the final block count for the entire season, regardless of when your pledge is placed.
