HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team competed on the second day of the Rainbow Wahine Invite on Friday afternoon. The 'Bows continued to play well, sweeping their doubles matches and winning five of six singles matches in straight sets against HPU at the UH Tennis Complex.
In doubles, the 'Bows won all three matches with an identical 6-2 score. UH's duo of
Satsuki Takamura and
Nidhi Surapaneni defeated HPU's Marta Ruszczynska and Rikona Murakami;
Madison Kim and
Tal Talya Zandberg knocked off Marleen Tilgner and Mihoki Miyahara; and
Gitte Heynemans and
Jessalyn Lopez got the victory over Elodie Busson and Valentina Mokrova.
Hawai'i's Takamura doubled up on HPU's Tilgner in singles, 6-3, 6-3 while
Tal Talya Zandberg coasted to a 6-0,6-2 win over the Sharks' Ruszcynska. UH's Heynemans held off HPU's Mokrova by a break in the first set, then cruised in the second to win, 6-4, 6-1. Hawai'i's Surapaneni nearly blanked Olivia Kjaier, 6-0, 6-1 and UH's Lopez held off Murakami, 6-3, 6-2.
The Rainbow Wahine Invite will continue with matches on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
On Thursday and Saturday the start time is 10:30 a.m. and Friday's matches will start at 3:15 p.m. All matches will be held at the UH Tennis Complex
