LARAMIE, Wyo. – The University of Hawai'i football team punctuated its 2021 regular season with a dominating 38-14 win over Wyoming Saturday at War Memorial Stadium.  With the win the Rainbow Warriors (6-7, 3-5 MW) reclaimed the Paniolo Trophy and kept its hopes for a possible bowl bid alive.

UH gained its first win in Laramie since 1991 and did so behind a rejuvenated offense that exploded out of the gates. The Warriors scored on its first three drives and five of its six possessions in the first half to take a commanding 31-7 lead at the break.

Chevan Cordeiro was the maestro, victimizing the Cowboys (6-6, 2-6 MW) with both his arm and feet. The Honolulu native finished with 409 yards of total offense and accounted for four touchdowns. Cordeiro passed for 323 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 86 yards and a score.

It was a milestone day for Cordeiro who surprassed both 6,000 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing in his career. He is the only quarterback in program history to accomplish the feat.

The UH defense also got the job done, limiting the Cowboys to just 14 points, a season-low for a UH opponent.
Khoury Bethley finished with a team-high 12 tackles for the Warriors.

The Warriors scored the game's first 24 points, before the Cowboys finally got on the board late in the second quarter. But UH fittingly ended the half with a 50-yard Hail Mary from Cordeiro to a leaping
Jared Smart to nullify any semblance of momentum for the Cowboys. UH out-gained Wyoming 312-129 in the decisive first half.

With the win, UH also snapped a five-game losing streak in Mountain West road games. The Warriors last conference road win came at Fresno State, 34-19, in the 2020 season opener.
