HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine beach volleyball interim head coach
Evan Silberstein announced the signings of a trio of talented players who will make their way to Manoa next fall. Joining UH are Jesse Mann, Sydney Miller and Portia Sherman.

UH's first-ever Australian signee….a six-time medalist in the Australian Beach Nationals…earned five golds, most recently in at the 2021 Australian Beach Volleyball Championships in the U21 division…also earned gold at the 2021 U18 Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships…placed third at the 2019 U21 National Championships despite being under 16…competed in the 2021 Asian Beach Volleyball Championships… earned a bronze in the U21 division and fourth place in the U19 division.
Silberstein on Mann: "Jesse is a rising international star with Olympic aspirations for Australia. She's consistently won national championships at every age level in her home country and promises to make an immediate impact for us at the NCAA level. She's a trailblazer as our program's first-ever player from Down Under and we're excited to welcome her to the islands."

In her compacted 2021 beach season, competed in the 2021 BVCA Beach Volleyball Championships in Huntington Beach, Calif., AAU Junior Nationals, and West Coast AAU Junior Olympic Games…invited and participated in the USA Beach National Team Development Program…took top-place finishes in AAU California Regionals, AAU Grand Prix Club, AAU Winter Series, PAC Beach Girls High School Tournament, and Gilbert Grand Slam (U18 & Women's Open)… co-captained her indoor high school team to CIF runner up in 2021 while earning second-team all-conference honors….an honor roll student.
Silberstein on Miler: "Sydney is like six feet of sunshine. Her can-do attitude, infectious smile and impressive wingspan has her rapidly climbing the ranks since making the transition from indoor to beach. We're overjoyed she's coming to Hawai'i and we believe the sky's the limit for this talented student-athlete from San Diego."

Plays for East Beach Volleyball Academy, founded by former UH All-American Katie Spieler… captured a pair of AVP First tournaments including the U16 competition… finished third in the 2021 Santa Monica CBVA open division…named to VolleyballMag's Top 20 Underclassmen To Watch List….part of USA Beach Volleyball's U18 2021 Summer Training series, developing future national team players…also a standout indoor player…led Dos Pueblos to its first outright league championship in a decade.
