The University of Hawai'i women's golf team will head to Denver to participate in the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, which runs Friday, Oct. 8 through Sunday, Oct. 10 at the Highlands Ranch Golf Course.
Reining Big West Conference Golfer of the Month,
Momo Sugiyama, leads the Rainbow Wahine contingent, which also includes
Hyeonji Kang,
Hana Mirnik,
Focus Jonglikit, and
Monica Johnson.
"I'm excited to get out to the Mile High City and take our tremendous momentum of the last two events and compete at Highlands Ranch Golf Club," head coach
Stephen Bidne said. "This is a course that I am very familiar with having had played and coached there numerous times. The course has a lot of gettable birdie holes, but some quirky, challenging designed ones to make you think. The quick undulating greens, will make approach shot distance control a must."
UH won both tournaments to start to the season at the HPU Sharks Shootout and Coeur d'Alene Resort Invitational, the latter of which Sugiyama grabbed medalist honors at 1-under 212. Mirnik led the Rainbow Wahine at the Sharks Shootout with her first individual title.
"Our preparation leading into this event has been very successful filled with distance tracking, and short game practice," Bidne added. "Now we just have to trust our games and let the low scores come naturally. I'm anxious to get back on the course and have another successful trip!"
