Ilagan Wins Two To Advance To ITA All-American Championships Main Draw

TULSA, Okla.—University of Hawai'i men's tennis player Andre Ilagan became the first Rainbow Warrior to advance to the ITA All-American Championships Main Draw sin Dennis Lajola accomplished the feat in 2009. Ilagan won a tough couple of Qualifying matches to make it to the Main Draw on Wednesday.
 
In both matches, Ilagan got stronger as his matches went on. Ilagan opened the day by defeating Baylor's Jacob Brumm in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2 in the Round of 1289. He followed that by outlasting Middle Tennesee's Stijn Slump in three sets. Ilagan won the first set by a break, but fell in a hard fought second set before blanking Slump in the third to punch his ticket into the Round of 32 and the Main Draw.
 
On Wednesday, Ilagan will take on Georgia Tech's Marcus McDaniel at 10:30 a.m..
