TULSA, Okla.—University of Hawai'i men's tennis player
Andre Ilagan opened the ITA All-American Championships with a straight-set win in the Round of 256. The prestigious tournament is being hosted by the University of Tulsa.
Ilagan swept Florida's Joshua Goodger, who was the ninth seed in the tourney and is ranked No. 59 in the ITA pre-season poll. Ilagan cruised in the first set, but edged out Goodger by a break in the second frame for a 6-1, 6-4 victory. It marked Ilagan's third career victory over a ranked player as a Rainbow Warrior.
Next up, Ilagan will battle Baylor's Jacob Brumm on Tuesday, Oct. 5, time to be determined.
