MALIBU, Calif. - Two members of the University of Hawai'i men's tennis team advanced in the quarterfinals of the ITA Southwest Regional Championships consolation rounds. But both fell in their final matches on Sunday in Malibu, Calif.

Blaz Seric and
Karl Collins won their Round of 16 matches in almost identical fashion. Seric won in a tie-breaker (8-6) in the first set against Pelayo Rodriguea of UC San Diego. Seric then cruised to a 6-1 win in the second set to seal the sweep. Collins defeated USC's Ryder Jackson in a first set tie-breaker (7-4) and then raced out to a 6-2 win in Set 2 to punch hit ticket to the quarterfinals.
Both 'Bows saw their runs in the consolation bracket come to a halt, suffering straight set losses. Seric dropped the first set by a break falling to UC Santa Barbara's Stefano Tsorotiotis, 6-4, 6-3. Collins lost his first set by a break as well to Cal Poly's Fernando Fonseca. Collins eventually lost, 6-4, 6-2.
