HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Athletics and 'Ahahui Koa Ānuenue are inviting fans this year to make a
"Pledge-per-Touchdown" for the 2020 football season. Although attendance at games is not possible due to COVID19 rules, this initiative provides an alternate way to cheer on the Rainbow Warriors from home while also supporting UH Athletics at the same time.
In comparing past years for the Warriors' eight regular season Mountain West games, UH averaged 32 touchdowns over the past two seasons including 37 in 2019. Hawai'i's new
"Run-and-Gun" offense under first-year head coach
Todd Graham looks to produce those types of numbers this season.
"We are excited about the upcoming season under Head Coach
Todd Graham and believe his character, football knowledge and proven track record are a perfect fit for our Rainbow Warriors," Athletics Director David Matlin said. "This initiative is a fun way to contribute to our team's success. When we score a touchdown the whole department wins. 'Bows Together!"
Here's how it works:
- Select an amount to pledge per touchdown scored throughout the 2020 season, starting with the season opener, October 24th vs. Fresno State
- Make your gift for the first touchdown
- Watch the Rainbow Warriors and cheer them to victory knowing you are positively supporting all 21 sports and more than 500 student-athletes.
Donors will be asked to make an initial gift for the first touchdown. Updates will be provided via email, and the total amount will be due at the conclusion of the season. The credit card on file will be charged the remaining balance and a 100% tax deductible receipt will be provided for your files.
'Bows Together is the Athletics Department theme for the year which includes fundraising and a focus on service and social justice awareness in the community. Due to the unexpected pandemic, Hawai'i Athletics faces a challenging budget shortfall and donations directly support student-athlete education (scholarships, cost of attendance, 5th years scholarship), competitive athletic experience (nutrition, apparel, equipment, travel), and a safe environment (additional expenses due to COVID-19).
