HONOLULU—The United Soccer Coaches 30 under 30 list was announced on Wednesday, and assistant coach
Sonia Basma from the University of Hawai'i soccer was selected as a part of the 2020-2021 class.
Â
Basma was added to the Rainbow Wahine staff by head coach
Michele Nagamine in early March and would be in her first season. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Big West postponed its 2020 soccer season, delaying Basma's debut with UH on the field.
Â
The 30 selected coaches are a part of a year-long education and mentorship opportunity. They are designed to give participants exposure to mentorship and the chance to take advantage of educational offerings, such as diplomas, and the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
Â
The 2020-21 class includes coaches from the youth, high school, and college game. See a breakdown of this year's class below.
Â
·     14 College coaches
·     9 Youth coaches
·     7 High School coaches
