PALM DESERT, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team carded a final round 318 Sunday to finish in fourth place at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate held at The Classic Club.
The Rainbow Wahine posted a 942 total, 17 strokes behind winner Cal Poly (925). Southern Utah (926) was runner-up, finishing one stroke back while defending champion UTEP (927) was two strokes behind the Mustangs.
Southern Utah's Chanikan Yongyuan went wire-to-wire to capture medalist honors at 3-over 219 after a final round 74. UTEP's Valeria Mendizabal (221) was runner-up.
Senior
Megan Ratcliffe (76-76-82) was UH's top finisher in a tie for 13
thplace with a 234 total. Junior
Tyra Tonkham (73-79-84) tied for 18
that 236 while junior
Sahara Washington (82-76-79) tied for 20
that 237.
Freshman
Kralyn Salazar (82-81-77) completed her first collegiate tournament with a final round 77 for a 240 total and tie for 27
thplace. Rounding out the UH contingent was sophomore
Haruka Shintani (83-80-80), who tied for 37
that 243.
The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the Pat Lessar-Harbottle Invitational, Oct 14-15 in Tacoma, Wash.
