Game Notes

• The first week of the 2019 season didn't go well for the Rainbow Wahine as they fell 3-0 to No. 5 USC and 3-2 in overtime to San Francisco.

• UH will look to pick up its first win of the season this week, but a 0-2 start isn't a new hurdle for the 'Bows. The previous three seasons have provided UH with a win in one of the first two matches of the season but from 2011-2015 UH lost the first two matches in three of those four seasons.

• In the all-time series against both Nevada and Sacrament State, UH holds the upper hand. Against the Wolf Pack, the 'Bows are 9-8-1 including a tie in last year's matchup in Reno. As for Sacramento State, the 'Bows hold a 6-3 advantage, including a 2-1 overtime victory in their previous meeting in 2016.

• Both visiting squads come in at 1-1 on the year. Nevada knocked off Pacific 2-1 on Aug. 25th, while Sacramento State upended Big West Conference opponent, Cal Poly, on the same day.

• The 'Bows will continue to play on Lower Campus Road with the Rainbow Wahine Soccer Invitational. Their home field of Waipi'o Penisula Soccer Stadium is under repair due to recent field damage. UH plans to return on Sept. 19 with the Rainbow Wahine Shootout featuring Washington State, UCLA, and Pepperdine.

SEARCHING FOR OFFENSIVE ANSWERS: The question of who will score for UH this season may have been unveiled in the recent 3-2 loss to San Francisco. Going up against a physical defensive game plan, newcomer Michaela Rentner emerged as a scoring threat, causing fits for the Dons' defense. Rentner only registered one goal but caused fits for the opposing defense as she weaved in and out of traffic.
