HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team closed out its fall camp by hosting its annual Green/White Scrimmage on Friday night in Gym 1 on the UH Manoa lower campus. The team played five sets, with the first three sets went to 15 points and the last two sets went to 25 points each. The White Team prevailing, winning 4-1 (15-10, 14-16, 15-11, 25-14, 25-23.
The coaches were able to try different lineups as players flipped squad with varying combinations in the spirited competition in front of about 100 boosters and family members. The unofficial stats had senior outside hitter
McKenna Ross leading UH with 14 total kills and fellow senior
Kirsten Sibley added 11.
Jolie Rasmussen and
Brooke Van Sickle, both junior transfers from Oregon, recorded double-doubles. Rasmussen had a solid stat line, tallying 11 kills, 14 digs, five blocks and three service aces and Van Sickle notched 10 kills to go with 11 digs, two blocks and two service aces. Junior middle blocker
Skyler Williams led UH sigh six blocks while rookie middle/outside hitter
Tiffany Westerberg also posted five blocks (two solo). UH's two senior setters both posted double-doubles as well.
Bailey Choy ended up with 35 assists, 16 digs, two kills and a block and
Norene Iosia had 34 assists with 11 digs and a kill.
Hawai'i will open its season next week Friday with the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic. The 'Bows open their 2019 campaign against No. 21 San Diego on Friday, August 30 at 7:00 p.m. Also competing in the tournament are St. John's and No. 13 Washington.
