LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its 2019 Beach Volleyball All-America Team on Wednesday with Rainbow Wahine
Emily Maglio and
Amy Ozee earning honorable mention.
It's the first such honor for Ozee (Jr., Haiku, Maui), while Maglio (Sr. Coquitlam, Canada), earned All-America mention for the third time. Maglio was also named a first-team All-American her freshman (2016) and junior (2018) seasons.
Maglio and Ozee each finished 25-11 overall on the season. They played in 28 of 38 matches together and were paired together for the first time 10 games into the season before finishing with a 21-7 mark. The duo played all but one of its matches at the No. 1 flight.
This is the second honor this week for the Maglio and Ozee, who were also named to the all-Big West first team. Maglio leaves second all-time at UH in overall wins (112) and is one of just five players in program history to crack the 100 win mark. Ozee, who will return next year as a senior, ranks 10 all-time at UH with 72 wins.
A total of eight pairs across the country were named to the AVCA All-America Team. Maglio and Ozee were a part of six other individual players who earned honorable mention.
