MOORPARK, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team dropped two spots into eighth place following the second round of the Big West Conference Championship Tuesday at the Moorpark Country Club.
The Rainbow Wahine shot 314 for a 622 heading into Wednesday's third and final round.
Defending champion Long Beach State leads the team standings at 589 following a second round 294. CSUN is three strokes back at 591 followed by UC Davis (604), Cal State Fullerton (605), and UC Riverside (608). Rounding out the field are UC Irvine (614), Cal Poly (617), and UH.
CSUN's Brianna Steger continues to hold the lead in the individual leaderboard at 4-under 140. UC LBSU's Haley Tygret is two strokes back at 2-under.
The Rainbow Wahine struggled in the middle of Round 2 with six double bogeys or worse on holes No. 8 and 9. Sophomore
Tyra Tonkham (79-76) paced the team with a 4-over 76 and is tied for 23
rdoverall at 11-over 155.
After posting even par 72 on Monday, junior
Megan Ratcliffe (72-80) carded a second round 80 to drop into a tie for 16
thplace at 8-over 152. Sophomore
Sahara Washington (79-78) carded a 78 on Tuesday and is tied for 29
that 157 while senior
Kaci Masuda (78-80/32
nd) is one stroke back following an 80.
Freshman
Nicha Vorrasanpisut (83-91) is in 40
thplace at 174.
Round 3 is scheduled for Wednesday with UH set to begin at 7:30 a.m. PT.
