LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Hawaii beach volleyball players
Emily Maglio and
Amy Ozee have been named the AVCA/CollegeBeachVB.com National Pair of the Week. The duo went a perfect 5-0 this past weekend to help the Sand Bows to the First Foundation Queen's Cup title.
Maglio and Ozee defeated pairs from Washington, San Jose State (twice) and No. 14 Loyola Marymount (twice). Three of five matches ended in sweeps, which included a two-match run on the opening day that saw them win 84 of 127 points. Maglio, a senior from Coquitlam, B.C., Canada, and Ozee, a junior from Haiku, Maui, are 19-4 on the season and have won 12 of their last 13 matches together.
This is the second time a UH pair has took home the national honor and the second time for Maglio. Previously, it was Maglio and former partner
Ka'iwi Schucht who were named pair of the week on March 27th of last year.
The SandBows (24-7) will host a Alumnae exhibition this Saturday, April 20, before seeking its fourth straight league title at the Big West Tournament, April 26-27, at Zuma Beach in California.
