MOORPARK, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team fired a first round 308 and are tied for sixth at the Big West Conference Championship Monday at the Moorpark Country Club.
The Rainbow Wahine are tied with UC Riverside at 20-over par. Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State share the first round lead at 295 while CSUN is one stroke back at 296.
Individually, junior
Megan Ratcliffe carded even par 72 and is in a four-way tie for second, three strokes behind leader Brianna Steger of CSUN (69). Ratcliffe posted a tournament-best seven birdies in her round which also included five bogeys and one double bogey.
Senior
Kaci Masuda fired 78 and is tied for 24
thwhile sophomores
Tyra Tonkham and
Sahara Washington are one stroke back after posting 79. Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine is freshman
Nicha Vorrasanpisut, who shot 83 in her first Big West Championship.
Round 2 is scheduled for Tuesday with UH set to begin at 7:30 a.m. PT.
