Men's Tennis Stays On Road To Play USF, Golden State Invitational

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team begins its second week on the road with another busy week on tap.  Up first is a dual match at San Francisco on Wednesday, March 6. The Rainbow Warriors will compete in the Golden State Invitational which run from Friday, March 8-Saturday, March 9. The tourney is co-hosted by both Sacramento State and UC Davis.
 
In the Golden State Invitational, Hawai'i will open against Sacramento State at 8:00 a.m. HT. Matches will be held at both the Sacramento State Collegiate Courts and the UC Davis Marya Welch Tennis Center. Eight teams will be competing for the title—host schools Sacramento State and UC Davis plus Grand Canyon, Fresno State, New Mexico State, Nevada and Saint Mary's (CA). The Rainbow Warriors ran into some soggy conditions in Stockton, California this past weekend and were only able to get one match in against Fresno State at the Pacific Mountain Invitational. Although UH fell to the Bulldogs, 4-1, the Rainbow Warriors' No. 2 Lucas Labrunie earned a hard fought win against Mantas Bugailiskis, 6-3, 6-7(3), 10-6. In all, UH took four of the six singles matches to a third set super-tiebreaker. Labrunie currently leads UH with an overall record of 5-3 while going 4-2 in dual matches.
