HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (3-5, 2-1 Big West) returns home to host a single, non-conference match against Indiana (10-6, 1-1 Big Ten) on Thursday, March 14 at the UH Tennis Complex.
Hawai'i's No. 1
Petra Melounova leads the Rainbow Wahine into the match vs. the Hoosiers. Last week, after defeating USC's No. 34 Salma Ewing, Melounova entered the ITA rankings for the first time this season at No. 119. Currently, Melounova is on a five-match, singles win streak. She leads UH with a 6-3 overall record and a 6-1 dual match record--all on the No. 1 court. Teammate
Maayan Sela also has recorded six wins thus far and has a 6-8 overall record with a 4-4 dual match. Both
Nikola Dolakova and
Michelle Pits have recorded four singles wins apiece.
Indiana split their two Big Ten, home matches last week. The Hoosiers upset No. 31 Illinois, 4-3 but fell to No. 13 Northwester, 5-2.
