WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team concluded the first round of the 28
thAmer Ari Invitational with a 297 total Thursday at the Waikoloa Beach Resort Kings' Course.
The Rainbow Warriors and UH Hilo co-host the event, which kicks off the spring season and is considered one of the top collegiate tournaments in the country. Top-ranked Oklahoma State headlines the field and is the Round 1 leader at 267.
A trio of Warriors fired 2-over 74 – senior
Cameron Kaneko and sophomores
Justin Ngan and
Cole Yoshida. Junior
Nick Nelson was one stroke back at 75 while sophomore
Justin Arcano carded 78.

Trevor Hirata, competing as an individual, posted the low-round of the day among the Hawai'i contingent with a 1-under 71 and is tied for 41
stplace. Also competing are senior
Bryden Salvador (83), sophomore Matt Lloyd (84), and freshman
AJ Teraoka (89).
OSU's Zach Bauchou finished one stroke off a course record with a 9-under 63 and holds a two-stroke lead over Oregon's Ryan Gronlund. UH Hilo's Jared Kinoshita is among a group of four golfers tied for third at 66.
The tournament continues with Round 2 on Friday with a 7:30 a.m., shotgun start.
