LAS VEGAS, Nev.—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team fought hard, but came up just short falling to UNLV, 4-2 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas, Nev.
 
Due to rainy weather conditions, the match started with singles instead of doubles.
 
The Rebels got on the board first, with Jordan Sauer defeating UH's Asad Siyyid, 7-5. 6-3. But UH quickly evened the match at 1-1 with No. 4 Lucas Labrunie sweeping UNLV's Richard Solberg, 6-3, 6-2. On the No. 2 court, Blaz Seric's comeback fell short as he lost to UNLV's Eric Samuelson, 6-2, 7-6 (6). But Hawai'i's No. 1 Andre Ilagan picked up his third win of the tournament, winning in three sets over Olle Thestrup, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. UH's No. 5 Tristan Martins was in a battle with Clayton Alenik. Martins won the first set, then fell in sets 2 and 3 by just a break, 4-5, 7-5, 7-5. On the No. 6 court, UH's Simon Telo Alves dropped his match to Tom Ciszewki, 6-2, 7-6 (4).
 
The Rainbow Warriors will play their final match in the UNLV dual match tournament on Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex against former Western Athletic Conference rival, New Mexico State.
