NAMPA, Idaho – For the second-consecutive meet, the University of Hawaiʻi women's track and field program 60m record was broken with Martina Latting etching her name in the record books on Saturday at the Bronco Challenge at Jacksons Indoor Track.
 
"Overall, this was a successful meet for the Wahine," head coach Tim Boyce said. "We had seven top 10 marks including a school record. This prepares us well for the MPSF Championships in two weeks."
 
In just her second indoor meet in a Rainbow Wahine uniform, Latting ran a school record 60m time of 7.75 in the finals to earn fourth overall. The time came after she posted a 7.81 in the qualifying round earlier in the day.
 
The previous school record for the 60m of 7.77 was set two weeks ago by Raion Black at the UW Invitational. On Saturday in Idaho, Black again set a new personal best in the event in 7.76 – the second-fastest time in UH history.
 
Staying on the track, Natasha Currence put together a 400m time of 59.24 for 12th overall and the eighth-best time in program history for the indoor 400m.
 
A trio of Rainbow Wahine moved up into the history books for the 200m. Black moved to third in 25.37, Calli-Ann Abbott is now fifth in 25.55 and Latting took seventh in 25.90.
 
After posting the third best time in the prelims of the 60m hurdles in 8.84, Abbott went on to win the finals in 8.63, which is third best in school history.
 
Abbott also excelled in the long jump with a mark of 5.41m (17'9"). The distance is her best for the long jump indoors.
 
Competing in her first collegiate indoor meet, freshman Jada Pierce secured a personal best with a weight throw distance of 13.74m (45'1").
 
The next action for UH is the MPSF Championships set for Feb. 22-23 in Seattle, Wash.
