Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Oregon Pulls Away From UH With Second Half Surge

EUGENE, Ore.-- The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team fell in non-conference action, 89-64 on the road at No. 13 Oregon.

The Rainbow Warriors (6-3) had their three-game win streak come to an end with the loss and is the program's second loss to a Power Five school this season. The previous was at Illinois on Nov. 18. The Ducks (7-2) bounced back after suffering losses to Gonzaga and North Carolina in the Battle for Atlantis.

UH started the game hot, converting 7-of-15 from three-point territory in the first half, going into the locker room tied at 34-34. The start of the second half gave way to a 16-1 run by Oregon putting the 'Bows in a hole they couldn't climb out of in the later moments.

Senior guard Eddie Stansberry scored 21 of his 24 points on three-pointers to lead UH, hitting 7-of-14 from long range. Sophomore center Dawson Carper and freshman guard Justin Webster both notched double figures. Carper added a season-high 11 points with five boards, while Webster tallied a career-high 12 points.

Payton Pritchard led the Ducks notching a double-double with 20 points and 11 assists. As a team, the Ducks shot a combined 63 percent from the field and 53 percent from beyond the arc.

The 'Bows shot with confidence, hitting 44 percent from the floor, and 46 percent from beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes. Compared to the second half, the shots weren't falling in as frequent of a fashion at 33 percent from the field and 33 percent from deep.

UH will head back to the island of O'ahu for a meeting with Samford on Saturday, Dec. 15. Tipoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. HT.
