FAIRFAX, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team completed the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in 16
thplace with a total score of 889.
The Rainbow Warriors carded a final round 298 led by junior
Matt Lloyd's even par 71. Freshman
Kotaro Murata was the team's top finisher for the second straight tournament at 5-over 218 after posting 72 on Tuesday. Murata tied for 66
th while Lloyd tied for 76
th with a 224 total.
Pepperdine ran away with the team title at 809 followed by runner-up, host California (825). Pepperdine's Sahith Theegala edged out San Diego's Harrison Kingsley and San Jose State's Sean Yu by one stroke for medalist honors. Theegala finished the tournament at 16-under 197.
Junior
Justin Arcano and senior
Nick Nelson tied for 81
st at 225. Arcano carded a final round 76 while Nelson posted 79. Junior
Cole Yoshida also shot 79 and finished in 84
th place at 232.
UH returns home to host the Hoakalei Country Club Invitational, Oct. 28-30 on O'ahu and the Kā'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational, Nov. 1-3 on Maui.
