COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team finished in a tie for 10
th place after the final round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational Monday at the Eisenhower Golf Course.
The Rainbow Warriors carded a final round 2-under 286 for a 3-over 867 total. First round leader Idaho rallied past Gonzaga to capture the team title at 841, 10 strokes better than the Zags who finished runner-up. UC San Diego placed third at 852.
Anson Cabello was UH's top finisher at 2-under 214 and tied for 18
th place.
Nathan Szpakowicz climbed up the leaderboard into a tie for 24
th place after a sizzling 4-under 68 to finish at 1-under 215.
Northern Colorado's Kaelen Dulany shot a final round 64 to capture medalist honors at 14-under 202, three shots clear of runner-up Oak Seelanagae of Nevada, who finished 11-under.
UH's
James Whitworth and
Dane Watanabe each shot 1-over 73 for a 3-over 219 total and tie for 57
th place. Freshman
Chris Salem completed his first collegiate tournament in a tie for 92
nd place at 226 after a final round 75.
In a separate individual tournament, UH's
Alec Hilgers tied for 25
th place at 5-over 221 after a final round 72.
Quinn Murray placed 34
th at 226 while
Cameron Combado carded 73 to finish at 227 and a tie for 35
th place.
