FAIRFAX, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team completed the first two rounds of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational Monday at the Meadow Club.
The Rainbow Warriors posted a 591 total following rounds of 296 and 295 and currently sits in 16
th place. Pepperdine leads the field with a 539 total, five shots ahead of Saint Mary's (544). Host California is in third at 546.
Freshman
Kotaro Murata and senior
Nick Nelson lead the UH contingent at 4-over 146 and are tied for 70
th place. Murata carded a second round 2-under 69 along with a first round 77 while Nelson shot 75 and 71.
Junior
Justin Arcano got off to a good start with an even par 71 but struggled with a second round 78 and is tied for 76
th at 149. Juniors
Matt Lloyd (76-77) and
Cole Yoshida (74-79) are tied for 81
st at 153.
Individually, San Jose State's Sean Yu is atop the leaderboard at 15-under 127, which included a blistering 10-under 61 in Round 1. Pepperdine's Sahith Theegala is three strokes back at 12-under 130.
The tournament wraps up with the third and final round on Tuesday with tee times starting at 8:00 a.m. PT.
