HONOLULU—For the second time this season junior long-distance swimmer
Phoebe Hines has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Female Athlete of the Week.
Over the span of two meets in three days Hines claimed five individual victories for the University of Hawai'i women's swim team. On Jan. 4 against Wisconsin Hines won the 1000 free, the 500 free, and the 200 free. Two days later in Maui against Simon Fraser the Parrearra, Queensland, Australia native took first place in the 500 free and the 200 free.
The weekly award marks the second of Hine's career as she was bestowed the honor previously on Nov. 21.
Hines and UH will be back in action this weekend against Minnesota at 12:00 p.m. HT in a head-to-head meet. Entering competition Hines is currently ranked No. 1 in the 1650 Free (15:41.35), No. 3 in the 1000 Free (9:35.71), and No. 7 in the 500 Free (4:38.11).
