HONOLULU—The second day of the Wally Nakamoto Diving Invite produced similar results compared to the first day for the University of Hawai'i diving squad at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
Freshman
Max Burman captured his second, first place finish of the year as he claimed gold in the men's one-meter springboard dive with a score of 302.45. Teammate, junior
Grant Newcombe joined him on the podium with a No. 2 finish as his score sat at 298.95.
"Training has been going well for me lately," said Burman. "The transition I've been able to make under the coaching of Mike (Brown) and Anita (Rossing) is starting to show. I'm really happy with my progress so far."
As a team, UH claimed four of the top five spots in the 15-person field, with senior
Johan Sandell finishing at No. 4 and junior
Lucas Cooperman finishing at No. 5.
On the women's side, junior
Jami Stone led the team with a fifth-place finish in the women's three-meter springboard with a final score of 264.25. Sophomore
Ivy Houser rounded out the top ten finishes for the Rainbow Wahine at No. 9.
Saturday will conclude the three-day diving event with both the men and women competing in the platform dive beginning at 12:30 p.m. HT.
