LOS ANGELES, Calif.—In the final day of the regular season, the University of Hawai'i men's and women's diving teams came away with an individual first-place finish and a handful of other top spots in the UCLA Bruin Diving Invitational at the Spieker Aquatics Center.

For the second consecutive day senior
Johan Sandell notched a top-five finish, but on Sunday, he captured a first-place finish in the platform dive. He entered the championship rounds with a prelim score of 315.40 putting him at No. 2 overall. Sandell saved his best for last surpassing Connor Callahan of California with a final score of 680.15 to claim the crown over the field of 12 divers. A year ago, Sandell claimed a third-place finish in the same event at UCLA.

Junior
Lucas Cooperman joined his senior counterpart on the podium as he finished at No. 3 in the platform, accumulating a score of 618.30.

As for the Rainbow Wahine, it was junior
Jami Stone leading the pack again as she maneuvered her way into the championship round of the women's one-meter springboard dive. Stone finished the preliminary dives at No. 8 overall with a score of 267.50. At the end of the day, she notched a top-10 finish with a score of 528.60 putting her firmly at No. 10 overall.

According to head coach
Mike Brown, Stone's performances at UCLA caps off a strong finish to finish out the year.

"Both the one-meter and three-meter finishes were her best of the season against a strong and deep field," said Brown.

UH will now head back to the island of O'ahu and begin to prepare for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships scheduled for late February. Â Â
